privacy policy
last updated: july 3, 2026
this policy explains what data the crying discord bot and the crying.rest website (together, the "service") collect, why, and how it is handled.
1. data we collect
- server data — server ids and per-server configuration you set (such as prefix, log channels, and welcome messages). this is required for the bot to function.
- user data — user ids and usernames where needed for features such as moderation logs.
- dashboard login — if you sign into the dashboard with discord, we receive your basic profile (id, username, avatar) and the list of servers you are in, provided by discord oauth. we use this only to show and let you manage your servers. we never see your discord password.
- feedback — anything you submit through the feedback form, including the optional username you provide.
2. what we do not collect
we do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and we do not store message content beyond what a feature explicitly needs (for example, moderation logging in your own server).
3. where data lives
the service runs on cloudflare infrastructure. configuration data is stored in cloudflare's data centers and is only accessible to the crying team.
4. data retention and deletion
server configuration is kept while crying is in your server. removing the bot, or asking us directly, will remove your server's stored configuration. to request deletion of any data, email support@crying.rest from an account that can verify server ownership, or open a ticket in our discord server.
5. third parties
the service depends on discord (see the discord privacy policy) and cloudflare (see the cloudflare privacy policy). the human verification check on this website is powered by cloudflare turnstile.
6. changes
we may update this policy from time to time. the "last updated" date reflects the latest revision.
